About us

David and I bought our farm in Berryville, VA in 1995. We were both from Louisiana and loved the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. It was love at first sight when we stumbled upon this old house with a For Sale sign in the front yard. It was an impulse buy that we have never regretted.

I loved fox hunting and had hunted with the Blue Ridge Hunt in Clarke County with friends from Louisiana for 15 years, so it already felt like home to me. I also had made many Connemara friends in this area so we started acquiring mares and thus began Glendale Farm Connemaras. Our four children had grown up riding and competing Connemaras in Louisiana so our dream was to breed safe, capable purebreds and halfbreds for them to foxhunt and for eventual grandchildren.

Glendale was conceived as a family farm and adventure from the beginning and has been just that for the last twenty years. All four of our children have been involved in some aspect of Glendale and now we have ten grandchildren picking up the reins. What began 20 years ago as a dream has come true. Every day we have with these marvelous ponies is a gift.
